Learning Quest

Learning Quest is an interdisciplinary approach emphasizing on knowledge acquisition, while integrating the contents and process of the various discipline into a cohesive integrated unit or theme. It is taught and learned in context of 7 subject areas:

Learning Quest

  1. Communications, Language and Litercy:
    • Language skills-based curriculum focusing on developing language through children's speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
    • Whole language approach linking all the areas of language development in a meaning full context
  2. Early Numeracy:
    • Develop children's understanding and acquisition of a comprehensive set of math skills and concepts,
    • Essential for building math literacy and mathematical thinking
    • Key content includes classification, graphing activities, numbers and operations, patterns, geometry and measurement
  3. Technology
    • Use of computer technology for inquiry and research and seek information from multiple sources
    • IT skills are incorporated and children learn to use technologies in other ways to support their learning
    • These may include use of digital camera, video camera and other technological gadgets
  4. Personal and Social Development
    • Experiencein EQ learning helps children become more sensitive, empathetic, respectful, responsible, kind, caring and peaceful members of the community.
    • Cultural activities and experiences increase children's awareness, understanding and appreciation for the other culture, language and literature
    • Play helps children learn without direct instuction or time set aside for specific subject areas. It allows them to enjoy, feel competent and in control of their world
  5. Creative Expressions
    • Rythms"N" Moves promote musical literacy focusing on singing,listening,playing instruments, creating music as well as developing the children's musical knowledge and understanding
    • Artworks develop children's natural inclination and artistic skills through aesthetic perception and creative expression
  6. Environmental and Community Awareness:
    • Young Scientist promotes scientific thinking and science knowledge through an inquiry-oriented approach
    • Social studies engages children in exploring with concept of social skills, gain knowledge and practice skills in negotiating, cooperating and sharing
    • Outdoor learning enables children to actively engage in exploring, manipulating and experimenting with the natural environment outside the classroom
  7. Physical Skills and Well-being
    • Focuses in finger-muscles dexterity, sensory skills, tactile and kinesthetic skills, and large muscles development through exercise, locomotor movement, body coordination and balance
